Bribie Island and District Neighbourhood Centre works to build a caring, safe and fair community. Funded by the Queensland Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, the Centre is first of all a community meeting place. We have interest groups and self-help groups and assist new groups to start up. We offer free services and activities, including:
o an Information and Referral Service to assist with any community enquiries
o a Family Support Service providing individual, family and child counselling for families with children aged 17 or under. This service has helped many families to get back on track when faced with difficulties concerning their children’s development or behaviour or difficult relationship issues including the challenges arising in blended families
o as part of the DSS-funded Family Relationship Service Program being delivered by the Moreton Bay Community Consortium, we run a family relationship counselling service one evening per week and several free courses per year, to assist families with parenting and relationship skills.
o a small Emergency Relief Service and a Debt Relief (professional financial counselling) Service, which provide practical support and information to local people in financial and related crises
o free courses including Regulating Your Emotions, Gaining Control of my Addictions and Parenting Courses
o Starting in May 2015, a SMART Recovery self-help group, for people who are looking to change their problematic behavious associated with addictions
o An onsite Bargain Shop at super low prices (donations of clean, saleable items appreciated – not electrical).
